The Twenty-Fourth Day of the Month of September

Menologion

Troparion of St. Thecla Tone 3

Inspired by the divine teacher's words/ thou wast inflamed with love for thy Creator./ Thou didst disdain all earthly pleasures/ and endure wild beasts and fire./ O glorious Thecla, companion of Paul,/ entreat thy divine Bridegroom/ to grant us His great mercy.

Kontakion of the Mother of God Tone 8

Let us the faithful come to the Mother of God/ for she grants healing to all abundantly;/ and let us sing with love: As thou hast raised the paralytic, O Bride of God,/ deliver from danger those who cry to thee: Rejoice Joy of all creation.

Kontakion of St. Thecla Tone 8

Radiant with virginity and adorned with the crown of martyrdom,/ thou wast a bearer of the Faith./ Thou didst turn flames to dew and tame a wild bull by thy prayer,/ O glorious Thecla, first woman martyr. 22-28

  • SATURDAY AFTER THE LEAVETAKING OF THE FEAST OF THE ELEVATION OF THE PRECIOUS CROSS: SYNAXIS OF THE RIGHTEOUS FATHERS OF THE NEAR KIEVAN CAVES

    Troparion Tone 4

We bring to Thee in prayer, O Christ, great Anthony and the assembly of the God-bearing Fathers;/ they are a fiery Pillar and a brilliant sun shining from the Kievan Caves./ By their prayers grant grace to our monastery and great mercy to our souls.

    Kontakion Tone 2

Let us honour with praises the ascetic choir/ as we behold them with our minds and in spirit./ As we venerate their relics, let us bring gifts of love,/ for they pray to God for our souls.
