St Jonah (Pokrovsky) of Hankou and Manzhouli

Commemorated on the Church calendar on October 7/20 on the anniversary of his repose. St Jonah was officially the bishop of Hankou, but was appointed to the border town of Manzhouli where he served unceasingly for three years for all citizens in Manzhouli whether they be the local populace or the Russian refugees, whether poor or orphaned children, even until the last day of his unexpected death in 1925.
