Description

On the Soul is the first Christian psychology, and aims at giving the true idea of the soul, as opposed to the speculations of the contempory philosophers and gnostics. In it he accepts the stoic view that the soul was corporeal, and asserts that the soul is not.

On the Resurrection of the Flesh is a defense of Christianity against the unreasoning and unreasonable criticism of the unbelievers. It was composed in the summer or autumn of 197, and addressed to the provincial governors of the Roman Empire. It seems likely that it was written after the Ad Nationes and perhaps Adversus Judaeos, which it draws upon.
