Transfer of the Relics of Saint John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco

 

With the blessing of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Metropolitan HILARION of New York and East America, particles from the Holy Relics of Saint John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco, were handed over for supplicatory veneration and adoration to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Parish in Hong Kong, as well as to the Orthodox communities in Beijing and Shanghai.

 

On October 25, Fr. Alexy Dyuka, clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, delivered the particles from the Holy Relics in Hong Kong, where at the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Church they were received by Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev and the Orthodox parishioners of Hong Kong. Following the celebratory Prayer Service, the Relics were taken out for adoration during the Vigil on October 25 and the Divine Liturgy on October 26. The particles from the Relics of the Saint will be accessible for adoration at the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Church.

On October 27, the particles of the Relics were brought to Beijing, where at Saint Innocent of Irkutsk Church they were met with a Litany led by Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev and Archpriest Alexy Kiselevich together with the Orthodox flock of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. After the close of the Prayer Service dedicated to Saint John, the clergy performed an all-night Vigil, and on October 28 – Divine Liturgy. The particles from the Relics of Saint John will be accessible for adoration at Saint Innocent of Irkutsk church in Beijing and at the places where Services are celebrated by the Orthodox Community in Shanghai.
